Posted by on Sep 24, 2011 in Ballet Companies, News | 0 comments

David Hallberg, a South Dakota native and one of the most talented male dancers in the world, is the first foreign dancer to become a “premier” dancer with the famed Bolshoi Ballet. He will, however, remain as a principal dancer with the New York-based American Ballet Theater.   Image Via – David Hallberg talked to NPR’s MELISSA BLOCK, host: Russia’s legendary Bolshoi Ballet is making history. For the first time, a foreigner – an American, no less – will join the Bolshoi as a principal dancer. He is 29-year-old David Hallberg, who’s currently with American Ballet Theatre in New York. Hallberg has wowed critics and audiences with his strength, precision, elegance and nobility on the stage. Now, he’s taking his talents to Moscow. He told me that when he got the offer, he was stunned. via Hallberg Talks About Joining The Bolshoi Ballet : NPR.   Via @nprnews: Our King David Hallberg Talks About Joining The Bolshoi Ballet | http://t.co/1lWEASF6 #kingsofthedance Via Twitter

Top American dancers unite for a ballet triumph in New Orleans | NOLA.com

Gregory Schramel and Marjorie Hardwick combined top dancers from Miami, Atlanta and New York into one company with shows in Baton Rouge and the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts.   Image Via – David L’HosteNew Orleans Saturday’s concert, which closed the Fall series for the New Orleans Ballet Theatre, underscored the ambitions of the husband-and-wife creative team who founded the ad hoc troupe in 2003. Hardwick and Schramel could have pleased ballet fanatics simply by staging a series of pas de deux. Instead they presented George Balanchine’s “Who Cares?” (with spectacular live accompaniment from pianist Jesse Reeks), and balanced that effervescent celebration of Gershwin’s music, with a reprise of Schramel’s “Patriotism,” a dark-hued narrative piece about honor and ritual suicide. via Top American dancers unite for a ballet triumph in New Orleans | NOLA.com.   Top American dancers unite for a ballet triumph in New Orleans | NOLA.com http://t.co/BoD5vng Via Twitter Top American dancers unite for a ballet triumph in New Orleans: Soloists from New York, Miami and Atlanta starred in concerts presented by New Orleans Ballet Theatre http://dlvr.it/l5MzJ #Entertainment #Living #New_Orleans_Dance #nola Via Google Buzz
